4/8/2009 Along with other celebrities including Kevin Bacon, Kyra Sedgwick, Steven Spielberg, and Jeffrey Katzenberg, our own Russ Bayro has fallen victim to Ponzi-schemer Bernard Madoff. On the advice of his international team of lawyers, Russ hasn't commented on the exact extent of his loss, but sources claim it could be upwards of $75 million. Russ, best known as the 1/3 frontman and Guitar player of Nitrous Rockside, is not asking anyone to feel sorry for him, though he has mentioned that there's a sale at the Nitrous Rockside Online store. A return to his lucrative guitar playing, as well as other solo releases are on the horizon this year as part of his financial restructuring. In the meantime, he will no doubt have to tour immediately with his fellow band mates in Nitrous Rockside, performing a lengthy tour of Europe. He's personally requesting that all fans attend these shows, and buy their tickets in advance. In addition, the band will be performing a show on Saturday April 11th at Gus's Roadhouse in Woodstock. Sources have not yet confirmed if the rest of the group were also Madoff victims, but as one source bluntly states, "Why would they feel it necessary to perform with Russ if they didn't need the money?" |
5/4/2009 Hi everybody, Kevin here...the guys have asked me to appeal to you on behalf of the band. It is with great regret that I bring the news of our devastating loss of irreplaceable vintage gear. Sometime between 2:00 and 4:00 AM last Saturday morning on campus in Madison Wisconsin our rental van was broken into and various treasured and prized vintage gear were stolen. While our loss was insured, the band faces difficult times ahead replacing the tools of our craft that contributed to our unique and original sound. While wood and strings, cymbals and heads, racks and PA gear are in fact simply (depreciable) assets... much of this stuff (aside from the sentimental value) cannot simply be replaced in kind before our next show at Bannerman's Sports Grill in Bartlett on May 16th. As it turns out... vintage, roadworn and weary equipment cannot be readily re-acquired at your local music shop. It seems that we will be recovering from this for quite some time, perhaps even long after our next show at Bannerman's Sports Grill in Bartlett on May 16th. At this very moment the feeling is that there's somebody out there that needs some strong language and a Nitrous Rockside kick in the backside. Rest assured we will be taking the high road on this issue and only want our equipment back. If anyone has our equipment or knows of its whereabouts, we are pleading for its safe return, no questions asked. We will be at Bannerman's Sports Grill in Bartlett on May 16th. The Band would like to thank the University of Wisconsin campus police for their professionalism and responsiveness in helping us deal with this tragedy. Unfortunately, at this time the only leads in the case are that at least one of the thieves may be missing a blue high-top converse Chuck Taylor sneaker and may have recently eaten at Taco Bell. In the meantime we are asking all of our friends to keep an eye out for any equipment or roadcase bearing the Nitrous Rockside name and logo. In addition, click here to view photos of some of the unique gear that was lost. If you do come across any of these instruments, please do not contact the Campus police at the University of Wisconsin or your local law enforcement. Instead contact info@nitrousrockside.com or come see us at Bannerman's Sports Grill in Bartlett on May 16th. As always rock on and we will see you at the next show at Bannerman's Sports Grill in Bartlett on May 16th. Luv Kev |
5/20/09 Dear Friends…George here… the Guys asked me to provide the next news installment for the Band. Please bear with me… caws I’m a man of few (editor’s note- multi-syllable) words, I’ll try to get the ball rolling with sports cliché’. Okay folks, it's the bottom of the ninth inning, two outs and Nitrous Rockside is up to bat (how’s that? Right out of the box). We're down by a run and we need your help to stay alive. That's right, the next show is Penny Road Pub in Barrington on June 5th on the main stage at 8:00 P.M. Weekend shows at Penny’s are a hard gig to get and we’re hoping to hit one out of the park. It’s not known to be a player friendly arena, but the sound system there is out of this world. We’re here appeal to your better nature and ask you, if you haven't already done so, to come out and support our efforts, root for the home team if you will. The supporting acts for the night will be Beautiful Collision and Blue Voodoo. (They’ll be closing the show for us) We've sent advance copies of our new demo out to various booking agents and clubs, and Russ’s wife personally mailed out the CD to hundreds of radio stations across the nation, so the word is out. You can now do your part to help spread the word as well by attending the show Friday June 5th at Penny Road Pub in Barrington. Feel free to write your own review of the show and we’ll post the best submission on the website at www.nitrousrockside.com. Write to your local paper or even to Rolling Stone after attending the show and you will be awarded VIP status on our website. Please do it! It'll help so much. |
We've sent out and posted fliers for all the shows to date. For those of you who haven’t seen them, they are very retro "advertisement style" posters featuring a familiar yet evil looking face exclaiming "I love these guys" (The Band), while somewhere in the foreground are various Nitrous Rockside "product placements. Jeff has been working very hard in the off season on these fliers and has already won several awards for design and composition on these babies. As it’s very likely these things will become collector’s items very soon in the near future we will be offering high quality prints of them on the website at a reduced rate to all of our friends. I know times are tough right now and it's increasingly hard to part with your hard-earned dollar, but please do us a solid and go to the website and order your merchandise at www.nitrousrockside.com. Also, please forward any pictures you may have taken at any of our past shows and we’ll do our best to get them posted on the site. You will be given full credit for your contribution, provided they are legal in Illinois to display. So batter up! Come on and take a swing for the fences with us this month and get to the show at Penny Road Pub in Barrington on June 5th at 8:00. Don’t be late or you just might miss our latest live masterpiece! It's sure to be a hit in your world, I guarantee it... Rawk On…(How’s that…any better C?) George |
5/24/2009 Nitrous Rockside was just as shocked when dark horse Kris Allen beat out the heavily favored Adam Lambert on American Idol. We’ve covered all angles of the shocking finale, from Tuesday night’s epic showdown to how Lambert lost… ¾ of this band is still speechless over the outcome. Discussion has turned to what Adam should do next. Jeff’s wife is contacting the show in order to set up an audition for the glamster rocker to front your favorite band, Nitrous Rockside, as we speak. No promises here, but we have decided to give him a chance and see if he can step up his game. As Russ has said many times before…"This shit aint no American Idol". Thanks to all who came out at Bannermans Sports Bar in Bartlett last week. Russ was running a 102 degree fever which broke sometime in the middle of the second set. He’s a trooper for pulling through, but of course that’s why we pay him the big bucks. We felt like we need a vacation after last week’s madness, so Memorial Day couldn’t have arrived at the perfect moment. To celebrate, the band has hung up their equipment for a long weekend of somber commemoration, grillin’, beer drinking, and just plain "Chillaxin" this Rockin’ Holiday the way it was meant to be celebrated. Here’s a Nitrous Rockside salute to those who sacrifice for their country. A extra special thanks is in order to all of those that supported the band with either well wishes or attempts to track down the miscreants involved in the hijacking of our gear. While doing some computer research on prostitution one evening, our drummer Kevin searched musical instruments on Craigslist and located some familiar looking equipment. The Skokie Police were notified and an undercover sting was set up to nab the perpetrators. Most everything has been returned without damage. New shows (June 13th-eScape Club in Buffalo Grove, July 11th-Gasthaus in Elgin, and Aug 1st-The Rack in Palos Hills) have been added to the schedule so check out the current calendar at nitrousrockside.com. Thanks to all and see you soon at Penny Road Pub in Barrington on Friday June 5th at 8:00 P.M. |
6/13/2009 9:15 PM Wow, I didn't have Internet all day and I feel the pangs of a drug addict. I am sitting backstage right now in Buffalo Grove, at Eskape Club, listening to Russ tune his guitar and I need to get my ass out there because he is good... Real good, spot on... and I'm feeling, ...well...intimidated. Both Jeff and Kevin have both have received twenty dollar parking tickets from Buffalo Grove's "Finest" (sarcasm) for parking in front of the venue during load in. Thankfully, I had just moved my truck or else I too would be muttering the words "b******t" and "jaggoff" while wandering aimlessly back and forth across the stage during line check like they are right now. Anyway, after talking to some of the help here it has become apparent that this is a common occurrence at this club and amounts to additional "entertainment tax revenue" for the Village. It would have been nice if the promoter or owner would have warned of this ahead of time...but perhaps everyone here is in on it...Gotta go soundcheck... 1:20 AM What a load of b.s....but I'll get to that in a few. Anyway...this show was our best yet...vocals and harmony were working well..."Beachboys well" if you will. Johnny B did a great job on the board and aside from some minor monitor problems, I've been told the house mix was excellent. Half of the people in the club were dancing (I counted 26 heads in front of the stage) at the end of the first set. Here's where the b.s. comes in though... this guy comes to pay us at the end of the night, looks Jeff straight in the eye with a serious face, and says that the draw was "9" while it was actually closer to 30. All this after a full house of people drinking, eating, and tipping his staff... Where the hell is my buddy Gunnar when you need him? He looks like he can be pretty persuasive in situations like this but he has taken the night off. Too bad. Let me tell you about our next show at the Gasthaus in Elgin. Gasthaus is located at 15 N. GROVE St. (between Chicago St. and Highland Ave.) We are being told that the cover is $5 at the door. We have not yet had any experience with the fine folks at Gasthaus but we are optimistic that this will be a good one. 7/11/09 is the date and 10:00 PM is the start. This should be fun...fun...fun. We will spent the night at this really rad place and go on at 10:00 PM. Expect 2 sets, approximately 90 minutes each, of the same stuff that keeps you coming back again and again and again and again. |
